Little Boots: Pretty Tough + Heroine
Little Boots and her pantsuit of an EP 'Business Pleasure' seizing control of the pop reins and travels further down her own unique path, first class. With the help of left-field producers such as Com Truise, Peter Wade and Simian Mobile Disco’s Jas Shaw, Victoria Hesketh has create something entirely in a league of its own.
“Taste It”, the lead track from the EP, set out the stall perfectly, with Little Boots’ glacial vocals set against minimalist beats to unsettling yet addictive effect. Meanwhile, new track “Heroine” imbues the electronic landscape with a sense of elegant melancholia, and on the menacing “Pretty Tough” she takes on the naysayers with the righteous warning “You think I’m pretty, oh well, I can be pretty tough”. It’s just another intriguing glimpse at the off-kilter world that Hesketh is constructing for herself, and reason why the reinvention of Little Boots is certainly one worth getting excited about.
