Beyoncé: 7/11 (French Horn Rebellion Remix)
Anyone who knows me well knows that Beyoncé is my favorite superhero. However, I will go on record to say that I'm not a huge fan of her latest single, "7/11." Now, before you send the Beygency after me, understand that I still love her and accept this single's release as one of her very calculated moves. As we all know, a year ago (almost to the day) she dropped her self-titled "surprise album" with a collection of 17 stunning videos and 14 studio tracks. The best (and probably only) way to follow up such a massive project was to release a simplistic music video for a mindless track....Enter: "7/11."
The track is fun. It's cute. It has an important message: reminding us to "never drop that alcohol." But...the song has no real chorus and lacks a lot of substance production-wise.
Fortunately, Brooklyn-based duo French Horn Rebellion have remedied the situation. Their remix has pumped life into the tune; adding a thumping percussion and a good beat for Bey's vocals to bounce on. Pay special attention to the 2:17 mark when the apparent bridge of the song is perfectly assisted by some funky synth-beats.
