SG Lewis Feat. Gallant: Holding Back
Although not quite on this scale, we've collaborated with both SG Lewis (during our Coachella Q&A here) and Gallant (for our New Year's Eve remake of Elle Fitzgerald's "What Are You Doing New Year's Eve?" here), so seeing the two together on one track gives me a pure adrenaline rush of nostalgia.
As the press release will tell you, "Holding Back" is an upbeat, immediately infectious counterpart to SG's previous single "Yours" off the same-titled EP coming out in August via PMR/Virgin EMI. But what it doesn't tell you is that this is the first-ever feature by Gallant on another artists' track, and while that might not seem like the biggest deal in the world, it kind of is.
SG, on the collab: “I’d been listening to Gallant for ages when I wrote the track, and sent it over to see if he’d be into it. He flipped the meaning of the song completely, which was so exciting.” To which Gallant also commented, “I’m a huge fan of SG. I think he’s one of the most talented rising producers around right now. He’s making incredibly special music that’s unique and stylish.”
