Splash House Q&A: Melvv

melvv With his performance at this month’s Splash House – a Pool & Music Festival hosted across two venues in Palm Springs for one amazing weekend – right around the corner, we had the opportunity to host a Q&A with 19-year-old Milwaukee-based producer Melvv. We cover everything from a typical day in the life of, to what’s in his travel survival bag, to what's next on the horizon - check it out:

1. Thanks for taking the time out to talk with us! First question, and it’s 100% real… Do you sleep? Your accomplishments are inspiring not only to your fans and music lovers alike, but to young aspiring artists. How do you divide your time to tackle everything on your plate? In diary format, can you take us through a typical day in the life?

I can't really answer this in a diary format because my schedule changes so much. I'm always up really late and often wake up late too. I travel a lot so my schedule is all over the place. If I had to average it out though, I usually get up around 11 AM and go to sleep around 3 AM. My days are usually a mix of working on music alone and/or going to sessions if I have any scheduled, hanging out with friends, running, and watching movies. I'm not really a TV kind of guy but I totally watch a lot of movies when I have extra time.

2. When the Splash House lineup was announced, what’s the best reaction you received from a fan or friend?

"Splash House is gonna be lit" -Matt DiMona

3. Playing so many gigs per year, what do you keep in your travel survival bag? Does that bag include any extra special add-ons for the desert, and your Splash House set that we can look forward to? Any peeks into your set that you can share with us?

I honestly don't travel with much in my bag. I guess one thing that most people wouldn't know about is I have a really bad peanut allergy so I've always got epi-pens on me. I also dig hats a lot so I'll always have a couple in there. As for my set I've got a ton of unreleased originals to play.

4. What fellow Splash House artist are you most likely to watch front & center?

Hudson Mohawke, Point Point, and Matt DiMona

5. The obligatory question: What can we expect from you in the coming months/year ahead? Anything exciting on the horizon we should know about and share with the universe?

Lots of original music is coming and it's way better than anything I've released so far.
